Marketing Strategy
Have you ever taken one of those personality quizzes, archetype tests, “what ____________ (bird/flower/tree/historical figure) am I” questionnaires?
I’ve always been fascinated by these types of quizzes — trying to guess where I fit in through the range of questions, and getting the final result. How did they do that? How do they know so much about me with only a few questions? How can I use this information to understand the world around me?
Months ago I took a Creative Types test to discover my creative personality. I wanted to know more about my design style, and how I compare to other creative types.
I wanted to confirm that I am creative and organized. That I’m a “doer” with a strong work ethic.
I took the quiz and read the results. And I didn’t get the result I expected, so I didn’t share it with you.
The quiz isn’t at fault; it’s designed to give an exact answer based on how I answered the questions. This test is interesting and creative. The interface is unexpected with movement and images to watch between questions.
Intriguing questions include:
Are you a ruler or a scribble?
I took the quiz again — now many months since the first time, and got the same result. It surprised me, and felt at home all at the same time.
I am The Dreamer.
Right now, I should be dreaming. It’s 1:15 am and the kids are asleep. I think. My mind has room to roam, to discover, to play. No one is expecting emails from me (sorry if I sent one, and it woke you. Turn your phone off :)
Darlene edits and sends my weekly (?) emails to you, and she wants this by morning! Nothing like waiting until the last minute, right?
Want to know more about The Dreamer?
The Dreamer is “the power of imagination unleashed.”
Creative Strengths: Connection to emotions and imagination, empathy and sensitivity
The world is a place of beauty and magic in the eyes of a DREAMER. Where others see facts and figures, you see symbols, metaphors, and hidden meanings.
You’re deeply emotional and intuitive, with a vivid imagination — the quintessential idealist and romantic. The inner world is always where you’ve felt most at home. You’re happy to roam your mental landscape of thoughts, emotions, and fantasies for hours on end.
You’re naturally drawn to express your inner world through literary pursuits, music, and the visual arts. Think of yourself as the “magical realist” of the creative types: like the literary masters of that genre, you naturally infuse your everyday life with the beauty and wonder of the imagination.
Your greatest gift is your depth of sensitivity and empathy, which allows you to give voice to universal human emotions in a way that touches people on a profound level. Your greatest challenge is learning to balance dreaming with disciplined action—which starts with coming back to the present moment. Let your mind roam free, DREAMER, but don’t forget to return to the here and now.
Practicing mindfulness will go a long way in helping you turn your dreams into reality.
Seek out opportunities to collaborate with INNOVATOR types, who combine your lofty idealism with a focus on pragmatic solutions.
The grounding energy of the INNOVATOR can inspire you to apply your imagination to real-world change.
Back to the present now… and out of the vast mental landscape where I’ve been spending time...
I’ll put my dream state into marketing genius for you. I’ll put your business ideas into symbols and designs to share with the world.
Share your favorite personality quiz with me. I like them, even when the results are unexpected. I just might learn something about myself!
Have a great weekend!
Andrea
